Tucholitas en el yacimiento de oro de Salamón (NE León)

    • Salamón gold deposit; in northeastern León province, is an epithermal mineralization hosted by carbonate rocks (Carlin-type). Early mineralization stage, besides of sulphides and sulphosalts, is characterized by thucholite and uraninite disseminations. Samples of removilized thucholites from brecciated pockets in subvertical N II0 QE fractures of Valle mine are studied. Thucholite is a carbonaceous material of anthracitic appearance, uranium bearing, with a massive texture and retractions cracks. Two components can be differenciated: one isotropic, dark-grey, and other anisotropic, light-grey and very graphitizated with numerous uraninite and cinnabar microinclusions. Both components have an heterogeneous distribution.

      Chemical characterization by organic way (Infrared Spectrometry analysis) of insoluble residue in acetone and chloroform, show a very strong graphitization with destruction of most functional groups. Thucholites total chemical analysis shows high contents in U and Hg, and ausence of Th.
