Este texto narra las impresiones de dos visitas a la comunidad de San Mateo del Mar (Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, México), con el fin de proporcionar ayuda después del sismo de magnitud 8.2 del día 7 de septiembre de 2017. La primera visita se realizó el día 12 de septiembre, y la segunda el día 30 del mismo mes; entre ambas, se produjo otro destructivo terremoto en el centro del país. El texto cierra con unas reflexiones finales, centradas fundamentalmente en discutir el papel jugado por el gobierno ante estos desastres.

This article exposes the impressions of two visits to the community of San Mateo del Mar (Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico), in order to provide aid after the earthquake of magnitude 8.2 on September 7, 2017. The first visit was made on the September 12, and the second on the 30th of the same month. Between them, there was another destructive earthquake in the center of the country. The text closes with some final thoughts, mainly focused on discussing on the role played by the government in the face of these disasters.
