This article offers a historical reference to the museological analysis of an expositive character.
The author proposes a reading of documentary and bibliographical sources that show that in the museum context parallel to the 1934 International Conference of Museums, approaches emerged by which the exhibition resources and museum planning, treated as precedents of the current approach, were evaluated. In the museological literature of the early twentieth century, there is a shared international reflection on the method applied to the different modes of exhibition as well as on the discursive capacity of the exhibition and the justification for the installation of cultural goods in exhibition halls. The current situation of exhibition and museum programming can be considered, among other factors, to be inherited from this interpretation of the ways of exhibiting that took place in the interwar period, transferred to the socio-cultural and technological scenario of the present.
