    El Consulado General de España en Gibraltar fue clausurado el 30 de abril de 1954 por decisión del Consejo de Ministros del 9 de abril de ese mismo año. Pero la decisión inicial no había sido esa y el cónsul general de España en Gibraltar en esos momentos, D. Ángel de la Mora Arena, tuvo una decisiva intervención en el cambio de opinión del entonces Jefe del Estado, Francisco Franco. Pese a materializarse como una reacción a la no deseada visita de la Reina Isabel II al Peñón, en realidad se convirtió en la primera de una serie de medidas conducentes a reivindicar de forma clara y contundente la soberanía sobre ese territorio y el rechazo a la ocupación británica.

    The General Consulate of Spain in Gibraltar was closed on April 30, 1954 by decision of the Ministers' Council of April 9 of the same year. But the initial decision had not been this and the consul general of Spain in Gibraltar in these moments, D. Ángel de la Mora Arena, it(he,she) had a decisive intervention in the change of opinion of the Chief at the time of the State, Francisco Franco. In spite of materializing as a reaction to the not wished visit of the Queen Isabel II to the Crag, in reali it turned into the first one of a series of conducive measures to claiming of clear and forceful form the sovereignty on this territory and the rejection to the British occupation.
