The work makes reference to the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven as the main theme of the aesthetic and designresearch of architecture and applied arts between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The figure of the Master is setup as a rather special case of musician to which monuments and buildings are dedicated: starting from the 1902 ViennaExhibition, held in the Secession building and dedicated to Beethoven, his celebration shifts from the field of sculpture tothat of architecture. This step, which is already important on a conceptual level, gives the start to a rich season of projects, very different from each other, involving the problems of the relationship between art and architecture, of theater reform, and of celebratory architecture.
