Este artículo plantea un recorrido por algunas de las prácticas artísticas que desde la década de los sesenta hasta los noventa se alzaron contra el discurso único planteado por el museo, las exclusiones de ciertos colectivos artísticos generadas por ese discurso, sus órganos de gobierno y estructura, los límites conceptuales de sus programas curatoriales y sus conexiones con el poder político. A través de distintos apartados se consideran algunas de las alternativas propuestas por artistas (tanto dentro como fuera del museo) frente a la mercantilización de las obras, así como las protestas y demandas de los artistas y críticos que han contribuido a que el museo sea hoy un lugar más democrático.

This essay proposes a review of some of the artistic expressions that revolted against the normative discourse of the museum from the sixties to the nineties. It considers the exclusions of certain artistic collectives in the museum, its organs of government and structure, the conceptual limits of their curatorial programs, and their connections with political power. Different sections consider some alternative artistic proposals created by artists (both inside and outside the museum), against the commercialization of art, which, together with the protests and demands of some artists and critics have contributed to make of the museum a more democratic place today.
