Resumen de La Corona Española y Santo Tomás de Villanueva en la correspondencia con la Santa Sede durante el siglo XVII

  Presentamos la correspondencia entre los Reyes de España y la Santa Sede en relación con la canonización de Santo Tomás de Villanueva, agustino y arzobispo de Valencia, que tuvo lugar el 1 de noviembre de 1658. Se conserva actualmente en el Archivo Histórico Nacional de Madrid, procedente del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de donde fue traslada a mediados del siglo XX. En ella se ve el interés que mostró Felipe IV y otros reyes y reinas del siglo XVII por obtener esta distinción para España y la Orden de San Agustín.

  We present the letters between the Kings of Spain and the Holy See in relation to the canonization of St. Thomas of Villanova, Augustinian and Archbishop of Valencia, on the first of November of 1658. The letters are currently kept in the National Historical Archive of Madrid but before, in the mid-twentieth century, they were brought from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the letters we can appreciate the interest of Philip IV and other kings and queens of the seventeenth century to obtain this distinction for Spain and the Order of St. Augustine.
