    Antonio González Pomata (Alicante 1926-1996). Dedicó gran parte de su carrera como periodista a la defensa y la difusión del valor cultural y gastronómico de la provincia de Alicante. Interesado en recuperar el patrimonio etnográfico alicantino, fue el impulsor de una serie de jornadas gastronómicas entre 1987 y 1994 con el objetivo de revalorizar la cocina tradicional y las creaciones propias de la provincia de Alicante. Se convirtieron en un acto social de relevancia, llegando a tener un peso importante en la reformulación del turismo provincial gastronómico. A través del análisis de las mismas, se realiza una aportación a la historia cultural del pueblo alicantino, aspectos de sus representaciones y códigos culturales en la alimentación, formas de comensalidad e historia de la sensibilidad gastronómica; mediante el material gráfico y periodístico. Un proyecto de colaboración entre la Universidad de Alicante y la Fundación Caja Mediterráneo, donde la Cátedra Carmencita de Estudios del Sabor Gastronómico, trabaja en el inventario, catalogación, análisis, estudio, divulgación y difusión del fondo documental y bibliográfico del escritor y periodista alicantino.

    Antonio González Pomata (Alicante 1926-1996). As a journalist, he dedicated great part of his career on the defense and dissemination of the cultural and gastronomic value of the Province of Alicante. He was interested in the recovery of the ethnographic heritage of Alicante. Due to this interest, he prometed a series of gastronomic events between 1987 and 1994 focused on the revaluation of traditional cuisine and the creations of the province of Alicante. They were considered a social event with such an importance that they changed the way that the Alicante gastronomic tourism was viewed. Through the analysis of these events, this paper contributes to the study of the cultural history of Alicante. It focuses on aspects of their representations and cultural codes related to food, eat together ritual and stories of gastronomic sensitivity through graphic and journalistic material. This project is a collaboration between the University of Alicante and Caja Mediterráneo Foundation, where the “Cátedra Carmencia de Estudios del Sabor Gastronómico” works on the inventory, cataloging, analysis, study and dissemination of the documentary and bibliographic collection of Antonio Gonzalez Pomata.
