Desde el último tercio del siglo XIX, el mundo urbano español vivió una serie de transformaciones que fueron síntoma de mejora pero también suscitaron problemas. El Barrio de Las Cambroneras en Madrid fue uno de esos espacios que a lo largo del primer tercio del siglo XX padecieron las secuelas del proceso de segregación derivado del proyecto de ensanche en la capital. A su vez, aquel hubo de enfrentarse al conjunto de representaciones que se le atribuyeron, como un barrio de gitanos y de desorden. El presente artículo muestra una primera aproximación con que deconstruir el discurso arrojado sobre este barrio partiendo de un análisis del perfil socioprofesional de los vecinos empadronados.
Since the last third of the 19th century, the Spanish urban world experienced some transformations that were a symptom of improvement but also raised problems. The suburb of Cambroneras in Madrid was a space that during the first third of the 20th century suffered the effects of the segregation process derived from the expansion project in the capital. In addition, it had to face the set of representations that were attributed to it, as a suburb of gypsies and of disorder. This article shows a first approach to change the discourse thrown about this suburb based on an analysis of the socioprofessional profile of residents registered.
