    El objeto de la presente comunicación es el fondo de Justicia Militar conservado en el Archivo General e Histórico de Defensa, consecuencia inmediata posterior de la Guardia Civil Española. Aunque podrían abordarse múltiples análisis, nos ceñiremos a dos. En primer lugar, resaltar la riqueza informativa de este fondo que consideramos aun insuficientemente explotado por desconocido, no sólo para el estudio del propio conflicto y sus consecuencias sino para otros aspectos que exceden su origen y abarcan, dada la heterogeneidad de las personas encausadas en los miles de procedimientos, amplias facetas de la vida común. Y, en segundo lugar, destacar y poner de manifiesto que, a pesar de tratarse de un fondo histórico y por lo tanto de libre acceso (con las limitaciones que marca la legislación vigente), existen lamentables restricciones al mismo dado su estado de conservación, debido a diversas causas derivadas tanto de la propia práctica jurídico administrativa como de su inicial tratamiento. Nuestro objetivo es lanzar un llamamiento acerca de la necesidad y la urgencia de abordar esta problemática y la intervención en esos fondos para poder acercar su contenido a los ciudadanos y a la investigación, fin último de todos los archivos públicos.

    The main focus of this communication is to look at the Military Justice fond, in custody of the Ministry of Defense General and Historical Archive, as the immediate consequence of the Civil War of Spain. ALthough, different analysis can be done of these consequences, we are going to emphasize on two of them. First of all, we have to mention the huge informative value of this fond, insufficiently explored due to the fact that is still unknown to the public. The record group is not only important to study the conflict itself and its consequences, but also to look into every aspect related to the entire dimension of the day-to-day life because of the diversity of the people prosecuted in the thousands legal proceedings. Second, we want to manifest and highlight that, despite being an historie and a free to access fond (witb the limitations established by law), part of the documents stored in the archive has considerable access reslriclions due to its damaged or delicate physical state. This damage is the result of the administrative malpractice and failure to treat the documents with the procedural steps that would have ensured a better conservation. Therefore, the purpose of this communication is to make an appeal to the academic community about of the need and urgency.
