    Este trabajo aborda el análisis iconográfico y estilístico del relieve de la Anunciación que se conserva en el ático del retablo de La Oración del Huerto de la iglesia de San Mateo en Tarifa. Plantea un recorrido histórico por la evolución y principales características de la iconografía de la Anunciación y sus diferentes representaciones artísticas y nos descubre también las primeras noticias de esta devoción en la ciudad de Tarifa, analizando los ejemplos conservados en sus iglesias. También nos aclara el origen, evolución y ubicación cierta de la arruinada capilla de la Encarnación en la antigua iglesia de Santiago.

    This study addresses the iconographic and stylistic analysis of the relief of the Annunciation which is preserved in the attic of the altarpiece of The Prayer in the Garden of the Church of San Mateo in Tarifa. It proposes a historical journey analyzing the evolution and main features of the Annunciation iconography and its different artistic representations, revealing the first news of this devotion in the town of Tarifa as well and analyzing the examples preserved in their churches. The study also clarifies the origin, evolution and certain location of the destroyed Incarnation Chapel in the ancient Church of Santiago.
