Se trata de analizar la iconografía que generó la Batalla de Gibraltar de 1607. Este suceso que, probablemente por haber resultado derrotados, ha pasado un tanto desapercibido por la historiografía española, ha producido sin embargo un buen número de obras plásticas en los Países Bajos. En Holanda, Jacobo Van Heemskerk fue considerado uno de los primeros héroes nacionales de un territorio que había adquirido no hacía mucho su independencia. Van Heemskerck, a pesar de morir en la batalla, quedó inmortalizado en numerosas obras plásticas, que por ende representaban la geografía del espacio donde se produjo el suceso: el estrecho de Gibraltar y la bahía de Algeciras.

It is about analyzing the iconography that generated the 1607 Battle of Gibraltar. This event, that probably have resulted defeated, has gone somewhat unnoticed in the Spanish historiography, however, it has produced a number of sculptures in the Netherlands. In Holland, James Van Heemskerck was considered one of the first national heroes in a territory that had acquired not long before independence. Van Heemskerck, despite dying in battle was immortalized in numerous sculptures, which therefore represented the geography of the place where the event occurred: the Strait of Gibraltar and the Bay of Algeciras.
