    Originally built as a grain mill, the Molí d'en Portella underwent a number of later phases, including the addition of a bakery and at least one other, as yet undetermined, secondary agricultural/industrial function. The Molí d'en Portella was purchased in 2016 with the aim of developing an archaeological research project to determine the historical development of the site and from the data produced determine and implement conservation, restoration and building reuse projects. There are hundreds of disused windmills on Mallorca and our aim is to use the Molí d'en Portella project as a possible model for not only the presentation of windmills as historic monuments, but also as working, self-sufficient energy generators and affordable venues for start-up micro manufacturing and service businesses.

    Originàriament construït com a molí de gra, el Molí d’en Portella va passar per diverses fases posteriors, entre les quals s’hi va afegir un forn i almenys una altra funció agrícola/ industrial secundària encara no determinada. El Molí d’en Portella es va comprar el 2016 amb l’objectiu de desenvolupar un projecte de recerca arqueològica per determinar el desenvolupament històric del jaciment i a partir de les dades produïdes per determinar i implementar projectes de conservació, restauració i reutilització d’edificis. A Mallorca hi ha centenars de molins de vent en desús i el nostre objectiu és utilitzar el projecte del Molí d’en Portella com a model possible no només per a la presentació de molins de vent com a monuments històrics, sinó també com a generadors d’energia autosuficient i llocs assequibles per comercialització de microempreses i serveis de fabricació.
