Gerra Zibilean zehar, Eusko Jaurlaritzak koordinazio-ahalegin handia egin zuen hainbat sailetatik, haurren ebakuazio masiboak martxan jartzeko, gerrako izugarrikerien lekuko izan ez zitezen. Hala eta guztiz ere, Justizia eta Kultura Sailak (EAJ) eta Gizarte Laguntzako Sailak (PSOE) Ipar Euskal Herrian euren koloniak eta babeslekuak instalatu zituztenean bi sentsibilitate politikoen artean identitate-arazoak sortu ziren, eta haurrak liskar ideologiko horien zuzeneko lekuko izan ziren.
During the Spanish Civil War, the Basque Government made a marked coordination effort from its different departments with the aim of setting in motion the mass evacuation of children to avoid them witnessing the horrors of war. However, when the departments of Justice and Culture (PNV - Basque Nationalist Party) and Social Care (PSOE - Spanish Socialist Party) installed their camps and refugees in the French Basque Country, problems of identity arose between both political sensibilities, with the children acting as direct witnesses of these ideological conflicts.
