A hardware device able to monitor the execution of high level languaje programs has been developed, in order to support the debugging operations. As a first implementation, an IBM Personal Computer programmed in C languaje has been selected as the working enviroment. This tool allows the user to check the execution of the source program instructions that he has previously selected, whitout modifying the current process dynamics. A compiler, wich produces an object code where each source statement is translated into a particular sequence of mechine codes, has been used. Break- points may be associated to up to four source statements; the single instruction stepping is allowed.
