Resumen de Distributed numerical control system (DNC) using a local area network (LAN) with polling protocol and bus topology

In this paper, we present a distributed DNC Philosophy based ond intelligent interfaces. We begin by briefly describing the evolution of DNC systems, their benefits and pitfalls. We then propose a DNC system architecture to overcome current deficiencies and improve system performance. Such architecture provides communications between machine and modules and a central computer by means of Intelligent Communications Interfaces ICI´s). Their hardware, software and protocol implementations are decribed. Finally system performance is evaluated according to the results obtained by means of a computer simulation.
