Clapeyron proposa un mètode analític de resolució de bigues contínues però limita el nombre de trams. Posteriorment, Ritter resoldrà la mateixa qüestió gràficament però sense limitacions. L’abrupta aparició del formigó armat i, en conseqüència, dels mètodes iteratius per resoldre bigues hiperestàtiques desactivaran tant els mètodes analítics com els gràfics.

Clapeyron proposes an analytical method of solving continuous beams but it limits the number of sections. Later Ritter will solve the same question in a graphic way but without limits. The sudden appearance of the reinforced concrete and, in consequence, of the iterative methods to solve hyperstatic beams will disable the analytical methods as much as the graphic ones.
