Atividades em um centro de ciências: motivos estabelecidos por educadores, suas concepções e articulações com a escola

    This study investigates the reasons why different educators plan activities with their students in a science center. In addition, it sought to: a) analyze the conceptions these educators had about the role/function of a science center; b) understand, based on what the educators said, how they participated in it during the visit to such facility; c) identify whether educators attempt to articulate the actions conducted in the school context with the activities in the science center. It is an exploratory and qualitative study. Data collection included semi-structured interviews with 15 educators after they had taken their students to a science center located in Grande Vitoria area, in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Results have shown that the main reason given by educators for planning the visits with their students to the science center in question is the possibility of linking theory, which is discussed and taught in the classroom, to the practical situations involving demonstrations/ experimentations, which are the key mediation elements in this type of educational facility. Such results point to a need to provide educators with reflection/training so that they can rethink the educational potentials of science centers and possible with the educational practices taking place in schools.

    Esse estudo investiga os motivos que levam diferentes educadores a planejarem atividades com seus estudantes em um centro de ciências.

    Além disso, buscou-se: a) analisar as concepções desses educadores sobre o papel/função do centro de ciências; b) compreender, a partir das falas dos educadores, como se deu a sua participação durante a visita nesse espaço; c) identificar se há uma tentativa de articulação por parte dos educadores entre as ações desenvolvidas no contexto escolar e as atividades realizadas no centro de ciências.

    Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo de caráter exploratório. Para a coleta de dados, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com 15 educadores após a visita realizada com seus estudantes em um centro de ciências da Grande Vitória, no estado do Espírito Santo.

    Os resultados evidenciaram que o principal motivo estabelecido pelos educadores ao planejar visitas com seus estudantes no centro investigado é a possibilidade de vincular a teoria, que é discutida e ensinada no contexto escolar, com situações práticas envolvendo demonstrações/experimentações que constituem os principais elementos mediadores desses espaços. Esse resultado aponta para uma necessidade de reflexão/formação dos educadores no sentido de repensar as potencialidades educativas dos centros de ciências e as possíveis articulações a serem desenvolvidas com vistas às práticas pedagógicas estabelecidas no contexto escolar
