The aim of this text is to prove and to demonstrate the adaptations and modifications that have taken place within masculinity during the decades studied. It will highlight the way in which masculinity is constantly represented through a duality between a toxic monstrous man and a more tolerant figure incarnated by the «new man». This archetype represents a new masculinity that presents himself as a measured and less hostile version in comparison with the toxic masculinity, but in the end, he still enjoys most of the guarantees provided by patriarchal system and male privilege.
