  • Resumen
    • The systematic record of the CO2 concentration in the air and the determination of PCO2 in drip waters of the Nerja Cave, together with other parameters of the underground environment (temperature and relative air humidity) as well as of the drip waters (saturation indexes for calcite and dolomite and electrical conductivity) make clear the tigh relationship among them.

The CO2, concentration in the air and the PCO2 in drip waters are higher in summer and progressively decrease in autumn, reaching minimum values in winter, coinciding with the minimum natural CO2 concentration in the air, a disminution of the number of visitors, temperature and relative air humidity and besides with decreases in the electrical conductivity of the drip water. The coincidence of the highest precipitation of CO3Ca with a disminution of temperature and the CO2 .concentration in the air seems that indicate that actual formation of speleothems is more linked with the CO2 content than the temperature of the environment of the Cave.
