Apatite apparent fission track ages were obtained in three samples from the South Shetland Archipelago (Antarctic Peninsula). Apatites from Livingston Island yielded Late Oligocene (25.6 ± 0.9 Ma, Miers Bluff Formation, Hurd Peninsula) to Early Miocene (22.6 ± 1.2 Ma, tonalites, Barnard Point) ages. However, apatites from King George Island yielded ages slightly older, i. e.
Early Oligocene (31,8 ± 2,6 Ma, granodiorite, Barton Peninsula). These ages suggest indicating cooling through 100 ± 10°C coeval with the end of the main magmatic event and appear to be older towards the SE.
