  • The Triassic succession of the Beni Snassen Massif overlies the Paleozoic on unconformity. The complete section, include two red beds at bottom and top, asociated with two tholeiitic basaltic formations intercalated by a carbonates unit. The distribution of units and facies can be interpreted in the context of the beginning of the mesozoic rifting of the northern paleomarge Gondwana.

    Thus, it is shown that, during these episodes of early extension, the Beni Snassen Massif has been affected by an episode of blocked rifting, controlled by the conjugate motion of N70-90, N140-160 and N30-40 faults that acted in an extensive regime allowing the individualization of several depressions.
