  • In the teaching of geology during the last years the trend has been to attempt to substitute on-sitevisits in the country with a more direct observation and identification of rocks within the urbanenvironment. We have described in this paper an itinerary for the city of Castellón.The old part of the Castellón city has been gone over; making stops in those buildings recognisedsuch as historical monuments or with a social and economic importance in the Castellóncitizenship that have interesting petrological characteristics.Cretaceous limestone has been used for the base of the buildings and doorways, putting aboveit, calcarenite in old buildings. In the twenties, the same materials were used. In the developmentdecade of the seventies, to other lining materials such as: "Rosa Porriño", "Rosa Dante", "GranGris", "Travertino amarillo", "Verde Macael", "Blanco tranco", etc., were substituted for theprevious ones
