    Con sus obras, Käthe Kollwitz y Romain Rolland conmemoran los muertos de la Primera Guerra Mundial de formas artísticamente diferentes, pero comparten la misma actitud pacifista. Basado en las obras autobiográficas de Kollwitz y en la novela de ficción de Rolland, el artículo muestra cómo el luto individual puede convertirse en un recuerdo colectivo de los muertos motivado por el pacifismo.

    Mit ihren Werken gedenken Käthe Kollwitz und Romain Rolland der Toten des Ersten Weltkrieges auf künstlerisch recht unterschiedliche Weise, vertreten dabei aber dieselbe pazifistische Haltung. Anhand von Kollwitz’ autobiographisch geprägten Werken und Rollands rein fiktionalem Roman zeigt der Beitrag exemplarisch auf, wie aus individueller Trauer kollektives Totengedenken im Zeichen des Pazifismus werden kann.

    With their works, Käthe Kollwitz and Romain Rolland commemorate the dead of the First World War in artistically different ways, but share the same pacifist attitude. Based on Kollwitz’s autobiographical works and Rolland’s fictional novel, the article shows how individual mourning can turn into a pacifist motivated collective remembrance of the dead.
