    Esta investigación perfila el trasfondo histórico-político, emotivo y poético-cultural relacionado con el romance fragmentario «Por los montes Perineos» sobre la huida del príncipe Carles de Viana hacia el exilio. El texto se transmite en BA1, seguido de una Escorreguda de tema amoroso, cuya copia no parece, en ningún modo, casual. En paralelo a estas composiciones, se sitúan dos romances que se transmiten únicamente en el Cancionero musical de Palacio y presentan varios elementos en común, externos e internos, con el romance «Por los montes Perineos». Estos textos poéticos reflejan, en última instancia, los principales problemas que acompañaron al príncipe Carles de Viana durante su vida: la ira de su padre, el rey Juan II, y las cuitas amorosas, cuestiones que, de igual manera, tienen su eco en distintas manifestaciones literarias del propio Carles de Viana.

    This piece of research delineates the historical-political, emotional and poetic setting of the fragmentary romance «Por los montes Perineos» about Prince of Viana’s flight into exile. The text is to be found in BA1, followed by an Escorreguda focusing on love, whose copy does not at all seem to be there by chance. In parallel to these compositions, there are two ballads that are included only in the Cancionero musical de Palacio and that have several external and internal elements in common with the ballad «Por los montes Perineos». These four poetic compositions ultimately reflect the main problems that plagued Prince Carles de Viana throughout his life: the wrath of his father, King John II of Aragon, and his love affairs, both of which have their echo in different literary manifestations by Carles de Viana himself.
