El SEIB de Ecuador: ¿un sistema educativo en busca de la mirada intercultural?

    El Estado Ecuatoriano ha recogido, con el Sistema de Educación Intercultural y Bilingüe, el proceso histórico de reivindicación de los movimientos indígenas por la incorporación del bilingüismo y la interculturalidad. Esto debe ser observado como un gran avance que visibilice la necesidad de las nacionalidades y pueblos del Ecuador de una educación más contextualizada. Pero debemos ir más allá y mostrar, que por un lado no se han terminado de cubrir las reivindicaciones de los pueblos y nacionalidades indígenas, y por otro, la asunción total de la educación intercultural por parte del Estado así como sus actuales acciones y decisiones muestran el alejamiento de los principios y premisas del sistema intercultural, tanto del exigido por los movimientos indígenas, como del enfoque que defenderé en este trabajo. Se debe sugerir la necesidad de reflexionar sobre los matices de la interculturalidad promulgada desde el Estado ecuatoriano y replantear la necesidad de que esta mirada sea trasversal y generalizada en la sociedad.

    Through the Intercultural and Bilingual Educative System, the Ecuadorian State has embraced the historical process of the indigenous movements claims to incorporate bilingualism and interculturalism. This should be seen as a great progress which shows the necessity of the different nationalities and identities of the Ecuadorian people to have a much more contextualized education. We should go beyond and analyze that, on the one hand, the needs of Ecuadorians haven’t been covered, and on the other hand, the total assumption that intercultural education made by the State and their actual performances and decisions, show the remoteness of the principles and premises of the intercultural system demanded by the indigenous people. It can suggest the need for reflection upon the details of the intercultural program transmitted propagated by the Ecuadorian State and the necessity of promoting these ideas in society.
