    El presente trabajo se inscribe dentro de una larga tradición de estudios centrados en las relaciones entre la monarquía y la Iglesia y en los esfuerzos de la Corona por extender su poder al ámbito eclesiástico. En este sentido, el reinado de Carlos III, presentado por la historiografía como cénit del regalismo español, ha recibido una atención constante. El propósito de lograr un clero adepto y una institución eclesiástica útil a sus intereses orientó la política religiosa y beneficial de este monarca, así como las provisiones de los beneficios controlados por la Corona. Sin embargo, los trabajos acerca del sistema beneficial, que determinaba la organización interna del clero y su realidad socioeconómica, son todavía escasos para este período. Nos proponemos, por tanto, analizar las líneas de las actuaciones regias en materia beneficial durante el reinado de este monarca y el modo en el que se reflejaron en la práctica en esta compleja estructura. Para ello, emplearemos la documentación relativa a las provisiones de Real Patronato, en las que se plasman estas nuevas medidas

    This paper forms part of a long tradition of studies addressing the relationships between the monarchy and the Church and the efforts made by the Crown to extend its power within the ecclesiastical sphere. In this respect, the reign of Charles III, presented in historiography as the zenith of the Spanish regalism, received constant attention. The aim behind this monarch’s religious and beneficial policy and the provisions of the benefices, controlled by the Crown, was to turn the clergy and the ecclesiastical institution into an ally to serve his interests. Nevertheless, the works about the beneficial system, which determined the internal organization of the clergy and its socioeconomic reality, are still limited for this period. For this reason, we intend to analyze the lines of the regal interventions made in the beneficial field during the reign of this monarch and how, in practice, these affected this complex structure. To this end we will use Royal Patronage provisions documents which reflect these new measures.
