    La documentación procesal nos permite entender cómo fueron las agresiones violentas en las sociedades del pasado. Así, podemos saber quiénes fueron los protagonistas y cómo sucedieron estas acciones. Saber cuáles fueron los factores y situaciones que motivaron los ataques es importante porque nos habla sobre cómo eran las sociedades del pasado y sus mentalidades. En el día a día de los vizcaínos el alcohol, el juego, la economía o la defensa del honor fueron las principales razones para ser violento. Éstas no fueron diferentes en las regiones estudiadas por otros autores. En Vizcaya, sin embargo, la expansión de nuevas ideas políticas, el liberalismo, rompió en dos la sociedad y el tener diferentes puntos de vista políticos se convirtió en una razón para atacar a alguien o ser atacado. Esta situación empeoró hasta el punto de desembocar en una guerra civil, la Guerra Carlista. Por todo ello, este estudio resulta de mucho interés para la comprensión de la evolución y cambios que sufrió la sociedad en aquel momento

    The procedural documentation allows us to understand how were the violent assaults in past societies. Thus, we can know who were the protagonists and how did the aggression happen. To know what were the factors and the situations that motivated the violent reaction is very important, because it tells us how were the societies in the past and what were their mentalities. In the daily life of the people of Biscay the alcohol, the game, the economy or the defense of honor were the main causes to be violent. These causes were no different in other places that were studied by other authors. In Biscay, however, the expansion of new political ideas, the liberalism, broke in two the society and to have a different political affiliation turned into a motive for be attacked or to attack somebody. This situation got worse and ended in a civil war, The Carlist War. Therefore, this study is very interesting to understand how did the society progress and change in that moment.
