  Aquest número de la Revista de Llengua i Dret inclou una crònica especial de balanç de 40 anys jurisprudència constitucional. El Tribunal Constitucional ha tingut una intervenció molt important en la interpretació i delimitació del règim lingüístic derivat de la Constitució Espanyola de 1978. En aquesta anàlisi jurisprudencial s’analitza, d’una banda, com s’ha interpretat jurisprudencialment l’habilitació constitucional als estatuts d’autonomia per a declarar l’oficialitat de llengües distintes del castellà en les comunitats autònomes. D’altra banda, pel que fa a sectors materials rellevants, se sintetizen els criteris jurisprudencials que fan referència a la llengua a l’ensenyament, les institucions i administracions públiques, l’àmbit socioeconòmic, els mitjans de comunicació i la toponímia.

  This edition of the Journal of Language and Law includes a special report reflecting on the 40 years of constitutional jurisprudence. The Constitutional Court has played a very important role in interpreting and defining the language policy set out in the Spanish Constitution of 1978. This appraisal examines how the powers of the constitution have been interpreted in the Statutes of Autonomy to declare languages other than Castilian official languages in the Autonomous Communities. Moreover, this article provides an overview of the legal criteria applied regarding the use of language in certain important sectors, namely education, public institutions and administration, the socio-economic sphere, the media and place names
