Resumen de Consumo de agua en establecimientos hoteleros de México

  El objetivo de este artículo es cuantificar y analizar el consumo de agua en el sector turístico de México. Se estima el volumen de agua usado en los hoteles establecidos en el país en el periodo comprendido entre el año 2000 y el 2015. Se utilizó la información oficial sobre el número de establecimientos, el total de llegadas de turistas, el tiempo promedio de estadía y las noches de ocupación. Se consideraron, a partir de resultados obtenidos en la revisión bibliográfica, tres escenarios de consumo: 150, 300 y 450 litros per cápita por día. Los resultados muestran que en cuatro entidades federativas se consume el 52.8 % del volumen total anual de agua y el porcentaje restante se distribuye en los otros veintiocho estados que conforman el país. Destaca que los hoteles asentados en el estado de Quintana Roo consumen, en su conjunto, el 30.3 % del volumen anual y que se presenta una marcada tendencia a que ese volumen se incremente.

  Water Consumption In Hotel Establishments In Mexico. The objective of this article is to quantify and analyze water consumption in Mexico's tourism sector. The volume of water used in the hotels established in the country in the period between 2000 and 2015 is estimated. The official information on the number of establishments, the total of tourist arrivals, the average time of stay and the nights of occupation. We considered, from the results obtained in the literature review, three consumption scenarios 150, 300 and 450 liters per capita per day. The results show that in four states, 52.8% of the total annual water volume is consumed and the remaining percentage is distributed in the other twenty-eight states that make up the country. It should be noted that hotels located in the state of Quintana Roo consume, as a whole, 30.3% of the annual volume and that there is a marked tendency for this volume to increase.
