    Esta aportación analiza la situación, problemas y evolución de la administración y los censos gravados en tres de las grandes haciendas que la familia Zozaya de Errazu (Valle de Baztan) tenía en la provincia de Matanzas (Cuba) de 1868 hasta 1909. Desvela los graves problemas originados por dos administradores, las pérdidas pecuniarias de los censos, y la repatriación de fondos para la familia, inexistentes durante la segunda guerra pero recuperados tras 1898. La correspondencia privada de Zozaya contextualiza las dos guerras y postguerras de Cuba, y refleja las redes familiares, sociales y políticas que conectaban la península y la isla.

Administratzaileek sortutako arazo larriak, erroldetako diru-galerak, eta bigarren gerran eten baina 1898az geroztik berreskuratu ziren familiarentzako funtsen aberriratzea ditu hizpide. Zozayaren gutun pribatuek Kubako bi gerren eta gerraondoen testuingurua zehazten digute, eta penintsula eta irlaren arteko lotura egiten zuten sare familiar, sozial eta politikoen berri ematen digute.

    In this work I analyse the situation, problems and evolution of the administration and taxed census in three of the great country estates belonging to the Zozaya family (from Errazu, Baztan Valley) in the province of Matanzas (Cuba), from 1868 to 1909. Some of the biggest problems caused by two administrators are unfold, such as the pecuniary losses of the census, and the repatriation of funds for the family, non existent during the second war, but recovered after 1898. The Zozaya’s private correspondence puts into context the two wars and post-war periods in Cuba, also reflecting the family social and political connections which linked the island to Spain.
