    Para conmemorar los 100 años del nacimiento de Henriette Avram, la creadora del formato MARC, se hace un resumen de los hitos que los autores han considerado más importantes en la evolución del formato MARC. Se describen también los avatares de dicho formato en España y sus diferentes ‘sabores’ hasta llegar a la aplicación generalizada del MARC 21. Igualmente se señalan algunos proyectos que han contribuido a la extensión del formato MARC en España.

    To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Henriette Avram, the creator of the MARC format, authors summarize the milestones in the evolution of the MARC format. The evolution of the MARC format in Spain and its different ‘flavors’ are also described until reaching the widespread application of the MARC 21 format along with some projects that have contributed to the extension of the MARC format in Spain.
