  • This edited volume is a festschrift in honour of Professor Satya Ranjan Chakravarty to mark his retirement from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata after a long and distinguished career. The volume consists of 11 chapters, neatly grouped under the themes of deprivation, inequality and polarisation that have characterised much of Satya Chakravarty's work. The grouping of the chapters seems I ad hoc i ; for example, notwithstanding its title, the chapter by Jayadev and Reddy belongs to the concluding topic, polarisation. [Extracted from the article]
