  • Many designers have felt the need to develop projects that, due to their characteristics, they have not been able to carry out through a commission. In these circumstances, what we call self-commission is born. This is the case of the designer Pepe Gimeno who, over the years, has developed an extensive artistic / research activity parallel to the professional assignment with a very wide range of projects.In his first works, in 1973, gesture and expression were his interests. Later, in 2001, he began to work with waste materials in projects such as Grafía Callada, Diario de un Náufrago, Emotional Manifesto, The Green Bag ... He also elaborated a series of paintings based on fragmentation and later transferred to painting the expressions of some sculptures.These projects, which began as a mere formal or experimental exercise, have ended up enriching the professional activity, providing solutions and opening it up to new types of work.
