    El presente artículo estudia el conflicto entre el socialismo catalanista de la Unión Socialista de Cataluña (USC) y el Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) en Cataluña. Concretamente, el estudio se centra en la utilización del internacionalismo obrero en la confrontación entre ambos. El análisis se divide en dos partes. En primer lugar, se trata de dar cuenta del inter-nacionalismocomo elemento característico de la cultura política del socialismo procedente de la Segunda Internacional. Este apartado se fundamenta, sobre todo, en estudios bibliográficos e indica la inserción de la nación en el esquema del pensamiento y la acción socialista mediante el inter-nacionalismo. En segundo lugar, con la prensa socialista como principal fuente, se atiende a los casos del PSOE y la USC durante el período republicano, cuando esta última devino realmente una fuerza política organizada. En conjunto, el artículo defiende la existencia de un mismo internacionalismo socialista entre los partidos citados, pero anclados en naciones diferentes; igualmente, destaca las implicaciones culturales y no sólo políticas de la idea de nación asumida por el socialismo español.

    This article studies the conflict between the catalanist socialism of the Socialist Union of Catalonia (USC) and the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) in Catalonia. Specifically, the study focuses on the use of worker’s internationalism in the confrontation between them. The analysis is divided into two parts. In the first place, it is about giving an account of the inter-nationalism as a characteristic element of the socialist political culture, coming from the Second International. This section is based mainly on bibliographic studies and indicates the insertion of the nation in the scheme of the socialist thought and action through inter-nationalism. Secondly, with the socialist press as the main source, the article deals with the PSOE and USC cases during the republican period, when the latter became an organized political force. On the whole, the article defends the existence of the same socialist internationalism among both parties, but anchored in different nations; likewise, it highlights the cultural and not only political implications of the national idea assumed by the Spanish socialism.
