La construcción de la fachada de la catedral de Sassari representa el final de un proceso de renovación que había comenzado a instaurarse en Cerdeña desde finales del siglo XVI y que se mantuvo vigente incluso durante las primeras décadas del siglo XVIII. La fachada acoge también motivos decorativos que guardan relación con modelos y tratados provenientes del norte de la Penúnsula italiana, y que convivieron e integraron perfectamente en un frontis verdaderamente interesante y complejo.

The construction of the façade of Sassari Cathedral represents the end of a process of renovation which had begun to be established in Sardinia at the end of the 16th century and which remained in force even during the first decades of the 18th century.
