La técnica del esgrafiado vive un periodo de gran plenitud artística durante el Modernismo en Barcelona, y la encontramos revistiendo las fachadas y los interiores de los edificios de viviendas del Ensanche. Jeroni Granell es uno de los arquitectos de este periodo con un estilo más personal y reconocible, y para embellecer sus obras emplea reiteradamente esgrafiados de temática vegetal y de formas esbeltas y sinuosas, siempre en la línea de las tendencias del "Art nouveau" vigentes en Europa.

The technique of sgraffitto lives an artistic splendour during the years of Modernismo in Barcelona, and it is found in the surfaces of facades and interiors of the apartment buildings in the Ensanche district. Jeroni Granell is one of the architects of the time with more recognizable and personal style, and in order to beautify his works he repeatedly uses sgraffito with vegetable motifs and slender and sinuous shapes, always in the line of the "Art nouveau" European current trends.
