  • Resumen
    • The results of a sedimentological and tectonic analysis of the Hettangian-Sinemurian of thenorthern Iberian Chain (Montalban-Oliete area, Teruel province) are presented in this work. Detailed facies analysis allowed the paleoenvironmental reconstruction and the identification offour deepening-shallowing upward cycles (similar to depositional sequences), that have beenrelated to regional relative sea level changes. The variety of the distinguished facies: evaporites and lutites, evaporitic and/or dolomitic breccia, megabreccia, massive dolomites, laminated dolomites and bioclastic limestones, are related to a deposition in a shallow sebkha, temporarily covered by marine waters, that evolved to subtidal environments. A set of normal lower Jurassic faults have been mapped. Thickness and facies distribution were controlled by the tilting of blocks due to normal faulting. In the closest areas to the fault, megabreccia facies are found. Inthe more subsiding areas, a thick sucession of evaporites is recorded.
