The Natural Park of Sierra Espuña is located in Murcia, within the Segura's hydrographical basin. It constitute the principal area of recharge of the karstic aquifer Espuña-Mula, whose regional groundwater flow direction goes toward its oriental sector (Mula-Pliego). In the occidental foothills of the park have been defined 16 karstic aquifers, having been the most important of them denominated Llano de las Cabras. These aquifers attend to the supply of the Aledo's population (1.000 inhabitants) and the irrigation of a surface of 1.900 hectares without any other alternative of water supply.
