Resumen de Old English Adjectival Compounds by Adjunct

Sara Domínguez Barragán, Carmen Novo Urraca

  • This publication lists the adjectival compounds in Old English. The sources are the standard dictionaries of Old English. The analysis carried out from a morphological word-formation perspective results in a total of 1,404 adjectival compounds. Each of them is presented with its adjunct (left-most element) and its base (right-most element) as well as the morphological category of each of the elements. This study completes previous works on the field, enlarging the number of combinatorial patterns based exclusively on the morphological categories involved. These patterns include some major categories as Noun, Adjective, Verb and Adverb and some minor categories as Pronoun and Numeral.
