    Esta de Olaibar fue así denominada por el vascófilo Louis-Lucien Bonaparte cuando formalizó su clasificación de las hablas vascas. Estableció el punto más al sur de esta variedad en el pueblo de Atarrabia (Villava), a las afueras de Iruñea (Pamplona), extendiendo la misma al norte del monte Ezkaba abarcando los valles de Ezkabarte, Olaibar y Odieta. Con dicha variedad –la quinta–, sumada a las de Erro, Auritz (Burguete), Artze y Elkano, completó lo que él denominó subdialecto cispamplonés, dentro del dialecto alto navarro meridional. Tal como se indica en el subtítulo de este trabajo, traemos aquí diversos textos recogidos en las partes central y sur de la variedad, hace ahora unos treinta y cinco, casi cuarenta años.

    The Olaibar variety was given its name by the Basquephile Louis-Lucien Bonaparte when he made his classification of the Basque language. He defined the southernmost point of the variety as the town of Atarrabia (Villava), on the outskirts of Iruñea (Pamplona), spreading it north of Mount Ezkaba to encompass the valleys of Ezkabarte, Olaibar and Odieta. By adding this fifth variety to the Erro, Auritz (Burguete), Artze and Elkano varieties, he completed what he called the cispamplonés subdialect of the southern upper Navarrese dialect. As indicated in the subtitle, this paper offers several texts collected from the central and southern parts of the area some thirty-five, almost forty, years ago.

    Olaibarko hau Louis-Lucien Bonaparte euskalariak, Iruñe ondoko Atarrabia herria hegoaldeko mugatzat harturik, Ezkaba menditik iparraldera, Ezkabarte, Olaibar eta Odieta izeneko ibarrek osatzen duten esparrua aintzat hartuz jo zuen aldaeratzat, beste gainerakoekin batera (Erro, Auritz, Artze eta Elkano deiturikoekin) cispamplonés deitu zuen azpieuskalkiaren bosgarrena osatuz, hori guztia, jakina denez, Hegoaldeko goi-nafarrera deitu ere zuen euskalkiaren barruan kokatuz. Lan honetara, azpitituluan aipatzen denez, aldaerari dagozkion erdialde eta hegoaldeko zenbait herritan duela hogeita hamabost, ia berrogei urte, bildu genituen grabazioetatik ateratako hainbat testu ekarri dugu.
