Genette's definitions of intertextuality, applied to "Achille ou le mensonge" in "Feux" and the fragment "Epithalame d'Achille et de Déidamie" attributed to the bucolic Greek poet Bion, are extremely efficient, while Yourcenar, in elaborating a modern poem from the episode where Achilles is hidden by his mother as a girl amongst girls in the island of Scyros, has offered a possible reading incipient in Bion's fragment.
