The paper proposes a critical reading of the portrayal of environmental issues within the international development narrative. The author argues that in the practices of cooperation in-spired by the concept of "sustainable development" it is possible to see the emergence of a ne-oliberal government rationality, which, by reorganizing nature and restructuring the field of action of individuals, aims to provide concrete responses to specific needs of capital accumula-tion
