    Este artículo presenta un panorama general de los avances y desafíos pendientes en materia de políticas docentes en la República Dominicana durante las últimas dos décadas, y en el marco de las actuales transformaciones que se realizan en el sistema educativo del país. En principio, se plantea la necesidad de contar con referentes contextualizados sobre la concepción de la buena enseñanza, destacando los avances del país al respecto. Posteriormente, realiza una referencia general de los Estándares Profesionales y del Desempeño Docente de la República Dominicana, y finaliza con el análisis de la propuesta de Sistema de Carrera Docente, poniendo acento en la necesidad de articular las políticas docentes en torno a un sistema.

    This article presents an overview of the progress and pending challenges in the area of teacher policies in the Dominican Republic since the last two decades within the framework of the current transformations that take place in the country’s education system. In principle, the author raises the need to have contextualized references on the conception of good teaching, highlighting the country’s progress in this regard. It continues making a general reference of the Professional Standards and Teaching Performance of the Dominican Republic and ends with the analysis of the proposal of the Teaching Career System, emphasizing the need to articulate the teaching policies around a system.
