  • Resumen
    • A growing problem exists in the administration and treatment of the RCD as a consequence of the population's increase and to a higher demand of building construction that this society carries. These residuals are deposited in many occasions in non controlled drains producing an important degradation of the landscape and therefore a strong environmental impact.

Estimates carried out in the twelve countries of the European Economic Community show a production of 190 millions of annual tons of residuals from construction and of demolitions debris, what is equal to 550 Kg. / res. / year, a quantity superior to the domiciliary garbage that an inhabitant produces (Jakobsen, 1992). In Spain, it is considered at the moment that the production of RCD 2000 will be of about 30 million Tn., what represents a 10% of the residuals generated in that year.

The recycling and later use of this material in infrastructure works would reduce the space demand for drains considerably and in turn it would elevate to the by-product category the current residuals of the construction companies.

In this work it is sought, on one hand to characterize the material coming from a factory of having crushed and selection of RCD located in Córdoba, and for other to evaluate the potential of employment o f these materials in the construction of highways, well be only or blended with different floor percentages in place, when this it doesn't complete the requirements of the Sheets of Technical Prescriptions of highways for their use in the construction of embankments, like it happens in wide areas and districts of the Andalusian region.
