Necesidad de un Instituto Tecnológico Informático en el Cantón Atacames, Provincia de Esmeraldas

    Para determinar la necesidad de la creación de un instituto tecnológico informático en el cantón Atacames, se realizó una investigación de tipo cuanti-cualitativa con un enfoque exploratorio durante los años 2012-2014. Los métodos  inductivo, deductivo y analítico – sintético fueron utilizados  y contribuyeron en la obtención y análisis  de los resultados. La técnica para la recolección de los datos fue la encuesta; ésta se dirigió a 134 estudiantes del tercer año de bachillerato y a los gerentes/administradores de las empresas asentadas en el cantón Atacames. El 93,28% los estudiantes expresaron su interés por la creación de un instituto tecnológico y el 67,91% de ellos manifestó su agrado por especializarse en carreras pertenecientes al área de informática. En la encuesta aplicada a los gerentes/ administradores de las empresas se estableció que existe un nicho laboral correspondiente al 67,64%. También se conocieron las plazas de trabajos existentes en el mercado, siendo la opción de 0-1 la de mayor elección (41,17%); otro ítem a considerar es la predilección que tienen los empleadores (el 63,23%) por profesionales del nivel tecnológico. Por lo antes expuesto se concluye que sí existe la necesidad de crear un instituto tecnológico informático en el cantón Atacames, el diseño curricular de éste deberá fundamentarse en los diferentes artículos establecidos en la Ley Orgánica de Educación Superior (LOES) y el Reglamento de Régimen Académico (RRA).

    To determine the need for the creation of a computer technology institute in the Atacames canton, a quantitative-qualitative research was carried out with an exploratory approach during the years 2012-2014. The inductive, deductive and analytical - synthetic methods were used and contributed in obtaining and the analysis of the results. The technique for collecting the data was the survey; this one was directed to 134 students of the third year of high school and to the managers / administrators of the companies settled in the Atacames canton.  93.28% the students expressed their interest in the creation of a technological institute and 68% of them expressed their pleasure to specialize in careers in the area of computer science. In the survey applied to the managers / administrators of the companies, it was established that there is a labor niche corresponding to 67.64%. Also, the existing job positions in the market were known, with the option of 0-1 being the most choice (41.17%); another item to consider is the preference of employers (63.23%) for professionals with the technological level. In view of this, it is concluded that there is a need to create a computer technology institute in the Atacames canton, its curricular design should be based on the different articles established in the Organic Law of Higher Education (LOES) and the Academic Regime Regulation (RRA).
