Resumen de Médicos contra jueces: la responsabilidad y la incapacidad de los individuos en los juicios de interdicción en la Puebla del Porfiriato

El debate que se daba entre los médicos y los jueces, independientemente de las otras personas que participaban en los juicios de interdicción, en Puebla durante el Porfiriato, condujo a que los enfermos mentales tuvieran dos destinos: el hogar familiar o los hospitales para dementes. En ellos podemos ver que, a pesar de existir un reconocimiento científico, el que tenía la última palabra siempre era el juez, quien determinaba la interdicción de la persona. Sin embargo, el cuestionamiento nos ha hecho pensar que la forma y los tiempos, así como la orientación científica de los mismos médicos, hicieron que los peritajes pudieran estar en duda, lo que llevaría al juez a tomar la decisión final.

The debate that took place between the physicians and judges regardless of other people who participated in the sanity hearings in Puebla during the Porfiriato led the mentally ill people to have two fates: the family household or the mental hospitals. In those it can be noticed that, regardless of existing a scientific acknowledgement, the one who had the last word was always the judge who ascertained the interdiction of the person. However, this questioning has made us think that the times and shapes, and the scientific guidance of the physicians themselves, made the reports could have been confusing enough for the judge during the time to make the final call.
