    El presente artículo ofrece un estudio comparativo de las fiestas públicas celebradas en tres ciudades de la Nueva España, entre los años de 1747 y 1748, con el objeto de celebrar el ascenso de Fernando VI como nuevo rey de la monarquía hispánica. En esta comparación, se toma en consideración el papel de los grupos indios que participaron en las conmemoraciones reales, las particularidades sociopolíticas que imperaban en cada uno de los asentamientos urbanos y cómo éstas influyeron en las estructuras protocolarias de dichas celebraciones.

    This paper offers a comparative study of public holidays celebrated in three cities of New Spain, between 1747 and 1748, in order to celebrate the rise of Fernando VI as the new king of the Spanish monarchy. In this comparison, it is taken in consideration the role of the Indian groups that participated in the royal commemorations, the sociopolitical particularities that prevailed in each of the urban settlements areas and how they influenced the ceremonial structures of these celebrations.
