El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los orígenes, alcances y repercusiones de la Reforma Universitaria de Argentina, ocurrida en 1918, a cien años de su gestación.Se examinan las raíces sociales e ideológicas del movimiento reformista, en el cual se cuestionó el carácter elitista de la universidad de la época, por parte de las clases medias emergentes; se ubica el movimiento en su contexto y luego se considera su proyección latinoamericana como respuesta a la situación de las universidades en la región.
This article aims at analyzing the origins, reach and repercussions of Argentina’s University Reform, which took place in 1918, a hundred years away of its birth. We examine the social and ideological roots of the reform movement, where the elitist character of the University at the time was questioned by the emerging middle classes; we place the movement in its context and then we consider its latinoamerican projection as an answer to the situation of the universities of the region.
