  • Resumen
    • Internet and Information Technology (IT), with particular reference to all mobile devices and applications, have enjoyed an unprecedented exponential growth in recent years. Higher education has not kept out of this technological revolution. Traditional educational approaches provide to new technologies a decisive role in improving the teaching and learning processes. In this sense, Augmented Reality is presented as a strong candidate, because it facilitates understanding of complex phenomena by integrating computer-generated information into real-world. This technology is projected in the field of Latin America higher education as a trend could significantly transform the cognitive experiences of the university. However, the knowledge and the applicability of this technology in teaching is minimal, given the nature and stage of development, in addition to its low incidence in areas of daily society. The development of educational initiatives that make use of Augmented Reality, and its popularization among primary school children will contribute to its definitive consolidation in the university community.
